What to weigh before you make an offer in Mascoutah:

• District 19 does not stop at the city line. It reaches into Belleville and covers unincorporated county including the base. A Mascoutah mailing address is not automatically District 19 either. Verify by parcel.
• VA financing is extremely common, with 22.0% of residents being veterans, more than double the Illinois rate of 4.8%.
• 2000s and newer construction is a real option here: 20.1% of homes were built between 2000 and 2009 and another 15.3% between 2010 and 2019.

Mascoutah is served by one K-12 unit district, Mascoutah Community Unit School District 19, so there is no separate elementary and high school district the way there is in Belleville or Shiloh. The complication here is the opposite one: the district is much larger than the city.

District 19 schools:

• Scott Elementary School (K-5), on Scott Air Force Base
• Wingate Elementary School (PreK-5), which has a Belleville address and sits outside Mascoutah city limits

District 19’s attendance area covers Mascoutah plus unincorporated St. Clair County including Scott Air Force Base, and reaches into parts of Belleville. Wingate Elementary, which opened in 2015, is listed by the district as serving The Orchards, Plum Hill Estates, Brookhill Estates, Green Mount Manor and Wingate Manor. Families in those subdivisions have a Belleville address and attend Mascoutah schools through high school.

It runs the other way too. A rural address with a Mascoutah 62258 mailing address is not automatically in District 19. The district maintains a school boundary page, and that is the place to settle it for a specific parcel.
